Home Owner’s Passport (hop) has been named winner of the Private Sector Innovation Award at the Ctrl-Shift Smart Data Forum 2026, recognising our work in bringing Smart Data principles into practice across the UK property market.
The award was presented on 15 June at One America Square, London, in front of more than 200 senior leaders from across the UK’s data economy. The Smart Data Forum is supported by the Department for Business and Trade and brings together the organisations and individuals driving practical delivery of the UK’s Smart Data agenda.
The judging panel recognised hop for transforming one of the UK’s most complex and fragmented consumer journeys: buying, selling, and owning a home. The panel highlighted how hop uses trusted digital identity and verified data sharing to deliver real outcomes for real people, placing it alongside winners including Open Banking Ltd, Experian, Raidiam, and the FCA Smart Data Accelerator.
The judging panel itself reflects the calibre of the programme. It included Agnieszka Scott, Head of Smart Data at the Department for Business and Trade; Steven Pimblett, Chief Data Officer at Rightmove; Maria Harris, Founder and Chair of the Open Property Data Association; and Kerensa Jennings, Group Executive Board NEA at Knight Frank; among others.
This recognition comes at a significant moment for hop and for property data more broadly. The MHCLG published its home buying and selling reform roadmap in June 2026, with the Residential Logbook Association (RLBA) named first in Chapter 6 and directly credited for the HM Land Registry data integration proof of concept that underpins hop’s logbook proposition. hop holds Law Society licensing, HM Land Registry Pilot Partner status, and RLBA membership simultaneously: a combination no other provider in the market currently holds.
For estate agents and conveyancers, the award underlines what our partners already experience: hop delivers property intelligence infrastructure that is regulatory grade, built on verified data, and designed to make transactions faster and more transparent from day one.
We were honoured to be nominated alongside the Open Property Data Association (OPDA), and to share the evening with organisations doing genuinely important work across the Smart Data economy.
